Steve Burke is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Originally from Lynn, MA, Steve attended Berklee College of Music before pursuing a career as a freelance bass player. An in demand session musician, Steve has played on dozens of albums in styles ranging from country and bluegrass to jazz and reggae. In 2021, Steve released his debut album, Southwestern Sky. Steve currently performs around NYC in various bands including JM Clifford, Rosalind, The Syndicate, and the Sam Talmadge Trio. He also produces electronic music under the pseudonym Anthoda.

In addition to his performance career, Steve is also the host of the Why Play Music podcast.

As a music educator, Steve has over 15 years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching privately on bass, guitar, mandolin, and music theory, he also produces education content online. His popular Instagram and YouTube videos have been viewed hundreds of thousands of people.
